Sydney Moving Calendar 2027
Almost a third of our moves happen on a Saturday, and about half of each month's moves land in its last week and first few days.
That is the whole calendar in one sentence. The rest of this page puts dates on it for 2027, so you can see which days will fill first and which days leave room. The figures are our crews' working estimates as at October 2026, drawn from how our diary runs, not from a count of job records. We say so again wherever a figure appears, and we refresh the page each quarter.

Five things to know
Friday and Saturday together carry more than half of a normal week's moves.
| Pattern | Our estimate |
|---|---|
| Share of the week's moves by day | Saturday 31%, Friday 24%, Monday 14%, Thursday 11%, Wednesday 9%, Tuesday 8%, Sunday 3% |
| Month end | About half of a month's moves fall in its last seven days and first three days |
| Busiest months | December and January, then November, February and October |
| Quietest months | May, June, July and August |
| Notice to book a specific date | Four weeks in summer, two to three weeks in autumn and spring, one to two weeks in winter |
Sunday's small share is not a sign that Sunday is easy to book. Few buildings allow moves on a Sunday, and few handovers happen on one, so we run fewer crews. The day with the most room is a mid-month Tuesday or Wednesday outside the summer peak.

How to read the calendar
Lease ends and settlements set the date for a large share of our local moves, which is why Fridays and month ends fill first.
A rental lease usually ends on a weekday, so the move happens on the last Friday or Saturday before it. A property settlement is often timed for the end of a month. Put those two together and the last Saturday of a month is the single hardest slot in our diary to get at short notice.
Public holidays work the other way. The holiday itself is quiet because offices, strata managers and real estate agents are closed, so handovers do not happen. The Saturday before a long weekend is busy for the same reason: people want the extra day to settle in.
School holidays mostly matter in summer, when the long break and the December and January peak overlap. The autumn, winter and spring breaks shift a few family moves but do not change the shape of the month.

The dates that fill first in 2027
Eleven weekends in 2027 sit on a month end, a long weekend or the run into Christmas. Book those a month ahead.
| Dates | Why they fill |
|---|---|
| Fri 29 and Sat 30 January | Month end, the week after Australia Day on Tuesday 26 January, and the last weekend of the school summer break |
| Fri 26 and Sat 27 February | Month end |
| Fri 26 to Mon 29 March | Easter long weekend sitting on the March month end. Thursday 25 and Tuesday 30 March take the moves pushed off the holiday |
| Fri 30 April and Sat 1 May | Month end, with the Anzac Day holiday on Monday 26 April the week before |
| Fri 25 and Sat 26 June | End of the financial year and the month end together |
| Fri 30 and Sat 31 July | Month end |
| Fri 1 and Sat 2 October | Labour Day weekend inside the spring school holidays, with the September month end on Thursday 30 |
| Fri 29 and Sat 30 October | Month end |
| Fri 26 and Sat 27 November | Month end, and the start of the pre-Christmas rush |
| Fri 17 and Sat 18 December | The last full weekend before Christmas, with school holidays starting Tuesday 21 December |
| Mon 27 and Tue 28 December | Public holidays for Christmas and Boxing Day. Nothing settles, so the moves land on Wed 29 to Fri 31 December |
Every date above has been checked against the NSW public holiday list and the 2027 school term dates. If your lease or settlement fixes one of these dates, the fix is notice, not a different day. Four weeks is enough for any of them, and if the two dates do not line up, short-term storage bridges the gap.

The dates with the most room
A mid-month Tuesday or Wednesday in May, June or August is the easiest moving day in Sydney to book at a week's notice.
| Dates | Why there is room |
|---|---|
| Tue 11, Wed 12, Tue 18 and Wed 19 May | Mid-month, term time, no public holiday nearby |
| Tue 8 and Wed 9 June | Mid-month, the week before the King's Birthday long weekend |
| Tue 22 and Wed 23 June | Mid-month, clear of the long weekend and of the end of financial year rush |
| Tue 10, Wed 11, Tue 17 and Wed 18 August | Mid-month, term time, the quietest fortnight of the year in our diary |
We left out Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 June on purpose. They follow the King's Birthday Monday and pick up moves pushed off the long weekend.
A quiet date is easier to book and easier to get a crew start time you want. It is not a cheaper date. Our rates do not change with the calendar. Quiet weekdays also suit an office move, which we run after hours and on weekends when a business cannot close.

Month by month
December is the busiest month of our year, and the three winter months are the quietest.
January
New Year's Day is Friday 1 January and Australia Day is Tuesday 26 January. The school summer break runs through the month. January is our second busiest month, with the pressure in the last ten days as leases roll over before the school year.
February
February stays busy in its first week as the January month end spills over, then settles. The last weekend, 26 and 27 February, fills early.
March
Easter falls at the month end, Good Friday 26 March to Easter Monday 29 March. Nothing settles over the four days, so the Thursday before and the Tuesday after carry a double load. March is otherwise a normal month.
April
The autumn school break runs 12 to 23 April. Anzac Day is Sunday 25 April with the holiday on Monday 26 April. April is slightly quieter than March, with the month end on Friday 30 April and Saturday 1 May.
May
May is the start of our quiet season. Mid-month weekdays have the most room of any month outside winter.
June
The King's Birthday holiday is Monday 14 June. The end of the financial year puts extra settlements on the last week, so Friday 25 and Saturday 26 June fill early despite the quiet season.
July
The winter school break runs 5 to 16 July. July is the quietest month of our year together with August. The 2 August bank holiday is not a public holiday in NSW and does not affect bookings.
August
August matches July. A mid-month Tuesday or Wednesday is usually bookable within the week.
September
Demand starts to climb in the second half of September. The spring school break begins Monday 27 September and runs to 8 October, so the September month end lands inside it.
October
Labour Day is Monday 4 October, inside the spring break. The first weekend of October is the busiest weekend between Easter and Christmas. The month end on 29 and 30 October fills early as the pre-Christmas run begins.
November
November is busy throughout and gets busier each week. Settlements timed to finish before Christmas start to land in the last fortnight.
December
The summer school holidays start Tuesday 21 December. Christmas Day and Boxing Day fall on the weekend, with holidays on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December. The two weeks before Christmas are the busiest of our year, and the interstate runs fill at the same time, and the three working days after Boxing Day are nearly as busy, because everything that could not settle over the holidays settles then.

How far ahead to book
Book four weeks ahead in summer, two to three weeks in autumn and spring, and one to two weeks in winter.
| Season | Notice we recommend for a specific date |
|---|---|
| Summer, December to February | Four weeks |
| Autumn, March to May | Two to three weeks |
| Winter, June to August | One to two weeks |
| Spring, September to November | Two to three weeks |
Add a week to any of those for a month-end Saturday, and two weeks for the fortnight before Christmas. Book packing with the move, because packers fill up before trucks do in summer. These are the lead times that get you the date you want with a morning start. We can often fit a move in with less notice, but the start time and the crew size become whatever is left.

What it means for price
Our local packages run from $60 to $80 plus GST per half hour, and the date does not change the rate.
The local price packages set the truck size and the minimum booking period. The smaller packages carry a two-hour minimum and the larger packages a four-hour minimum. A quiet date does not come with a discount, and a busy date does not carry a surcharge. What a busy date can cost you is the start time, because the morning slots go first.
If your date is flexible by a day or two, tell us when you ask for a quote or run the removal calculator. Moving a job from a month-end Saturday to the Tuesday after is the single biggest thing a customer can do to get the crew and start time they want.

How we built this
Every figure on this page is an estimate from the people who run our diary, not a count from a database.
The day-of-week split, the month-end share and the busy and quiet months are the patterns our bookings team and crews work around every week. We wrote them down and rounded them. We did not analyse an export of job records, and we do not quote sample sizes because there are none. If a figure here disagrees with your own experience as a removalist or agent, we would like to hear it.
The dates come from the NSW Government. Every 2027 date on this page was checked against the public holiday list and the NSW school term calendar, including the weekday. The judgement about which dates fill is ours.
We refresh this page each quarter. The next refresh is due in January 2027, when the summer peak gives us a fresh read on lead times.
