Your Route Along The Mitchell Highway
Departing Sydney, we head over the Blue Mountains. The climb can be steep, and traffic near Katoomba can slow progress, especially during holiday periods. Once past Lithgow, the road opens up, and we join the Mitchell Highway at Bathurst. From there, the terrain levels out into wide plains, but you’ll encounter long stretches with few service stations. We schedule rest stops and ensure our trucks are fuelled and maintained to avoid breakdowns.
Wildlife crossings are common near Wellington and Narromine, particularly at dawn and dusk. Our drivers are vigilant, adjusting speed to avoid collisions and keep your goods safe. Road trains and heavy agricultural machinery share the highway, so patience and space are essential. We plan departure times to minimise encounters with these vehicles where possible.
Dubbo itself is well laid out, with wide roads and ample parking. However, some older homes in the West Dubbo and North Dubbo areas have narrow driveways or overhanging trees. Rural properties outside town may have long gravel tracks or cattle grids that require smaller shuttle vehicles. During our quote process, we’ll ask about access issues so we can plan equipment and crew numbers.
The climate shifts as you leave the coast. Summers are hot and dry, while winters can be crisp with frosty mornings. Protecting furniture and electronics from temperature fluctuations is important. Our trucks are sealed and ventilated to maintain stable conditions inside.
