Start with what you're taking
We quote each Newcastle to Sydney move from your furniture inventory. As a guide, the road trip is about 170 km, with roughly two to two and a half hours of driving before you count loading and unloading. That driving estimate is for a car journey, not a promise of when your furniture will arrive. Your two addresses and the time it takes to get everything out and in determine the moving day.
Use our furniture calculator to record the load. Then tell us your moving date and the Sydney suburb you're heading to. Remember the outdoor furniture and any shelving you're taking out of the garage. If you're selling a bed or leaving a fridge behind, take it off the list before we quote. Photos help explain an awkward item or doorway.
Newcastle is part of our NSW country removals service. We price the move individually rather than applying a Sydney local moving rate to the trip.
Sharing a truck or booking it for yourself
Our backloading service has a minimum load of 5 mΒ³. You share available truck space with another move, so the first thing to check is whether a suitable southbound trip has room for your furniture. Having flexible pickup and delivery dates gives you more scope to use it.
A shared truck is worth considering if you can wait for a suitable trip and don't need everything delivered at a particular hour. Before agreeing to a backload, check how much time you need to allow at each end, especially if someone else will meet the truck in Sydney.
A dedicated truck is worth paying for when you have a full household to move or a firm deadline to leave your Newcastle home. It avoids fitting your move around other customers' stops. Traffic can still delay the drive, so a dedicated booking doesn't make a tight Sydney lift slot certain. Discuss that slot with us before you book it.
Check the way out of your Newcastle home
Before you hand back the keys, show us where the truck can stop and how we get from the front door to it. A photo of the street is more useful than saying parking is usually fine. Let us see any driveway slope or stairs, and tell us if a sofa only came in through a balcony.
If you're unsure about using the kerb for loading, check with City of Newcastle about the arrangements for your address. For a unit, speak to the building manager about moving access. Don't assume a car space has enough clearance for a removal truck.
Keep your final inspection separate from pickup time. Loading needs to finish before you can check the empty rooms and return the keys.
Get the Sydney address ready before we leave
For an apartment delivery, find out whether you need to reserve the goods lift and where the truck is allowed to unload. Send us the booking window and any height limit at the entrance. Measure a large sofa against the lift doorway too. A lift reservation won't help if the furniture doesn't fit.
For a house, tell us if the driveway is steep or if we'll be carrying furniture from the street. Confirm when you can collect the keys. If settlement is still pending, don't treat the expected settlement time as guaranteed access.
Choose someone who can stay at the Sydney home during unloading and show us where the larger pieces belong. Keep the paperwork you need for key collection with you, rather than in a box on the truck.
